A history of KÜRT

Anyone who has heard of us thinks of IT security and the recovery of damaged computer data when they hear our name. The company’s foundations were laid by Sándor Kürti and János Kürti; today, the company is represented by CEO József Kmetty.

KÜRT was established in 1989. The company started out as a Hungarian-owned company and grew to become an international conglomerate with more than thirty years of experience regarding technologies and solutions for the protection of information, the prevention of data loss and theft, and the recovery of lost data. As a result of our experience and the work of our team of experts, with their innovative approach and excellent know-how, KÜRT has garnered renown to become a global leader in data backup. Our market-leading information security services are regularly utilized by prominent members of the European economy.

KÜRT has been dealing with data recovery for more than 30 years and successfully performs more than 3,000 data backup and restoration tasks every year. In addition to our unique data backup technology, the knowledge and expertise we have amassed ensures that the company maintains its competence in the field.
KÜRT was awarded the Grand Prize for Hungarian Innovation, awarded to the most important innovations, back in 1994 for developing and successfully applying its data backup technology.

In addition to its data backup service, KÜRT also markets its know-how, with the Hungarian technology having been purchased in countries on three continents.

KÜRT started developing its comprehensive IT Security Technology (Informatikai Biztonsági Technológia, IBiT®) framework and studying and working on the topic in the second half of the 1990s. The technology incorporates the methodology and procedures developed over many years of experience in data backup to prevent data loss, but also extends its purpose to include elements to prevent data from falling into unauthorized hands and to ensure business continuity. KÜRT was awarded the Ministry of Informatics and Communication’s Innovation Award for the activity in 2002.

KÜRT has been present on the German market for almost twenty years. Its foreign subsidiary, KUERT Datenrettung Deutschland GmbH, opened its doors in Germany in the beginning of 2003.

KÜRT has been certified for quality management since 1997, for information security since 2005, for ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 27001:2014 integrated quality management and information security since 2017, and is a NATO certified supplier.
